Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the purposes for which it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Union County Criminal History, you accept the practices stated here.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that search. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

We retain an email message when needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the server automatically receives basic technical and usage details:

  • Page-view dates, times, and time spent
  • Device type and operating system
  • The referring website, when one is reported
  • Browser type and version
  • Pages viewed during the visit
  • The device's assigned IP address

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files stored on a device. They and analytics services help aggregate traffic patterns, such as popular pages and points where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, although disabling them may change how some site functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

Collected technical data is used only to operate, measure, troubleshoot, and support the website and its displayed services:

  • Routing a query to the selected search partner
  • Maintaining site availability and speed
  • Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
  • Measuring which pages are useful or need improvement
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect user interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We do not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. Union County guidance identifies official sources such as the Union County Sheriff, Kentucky courts, Kentucky State Police Records Branch, and Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a third-party criminal record.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted there falls under that partner's privacy policy, retention rules, and disclosure practices rather than this policy. Review the provider's terms before sending a query because we do not control those practices.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Union County offices, Kentucky court portals, state agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read it before providing personal details.

Advertising providers may use their own systems to track activity across sites for targeted advertising. We do not operate that tracking.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Data may be available to:

  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
  • Search partners processing a submitted query
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
  • Advertising networks serving ads on site pages

How We Protect Your Data

Standard security practices are used to protect collected data. No internet-connected service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

This resource is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.

Your Data Rights

Rights can depend on where a visitor lives. The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs qualifying requests to public agencies rather than records held by this private website. KRS 61.884 addresses a person's access to a public-agency record relating to that person, while KRS Chapter 17 controls aspects of criminal-history dissemination. At a minimum, you may:

  • Request deletion of data where the law permits
  • Ask what personal information is held about you
  • Seek correction of inaccurate information
  • Opt out of processing where an applicable law gives that right

Updates to This Policy

This privacy policy may be revised. Any revision will be posted here with a new effective date, and continued use will be governed by the current version.

Effective date: July 26, 2026
